Testimonials

  • Kierra Warren, NEXUS Protégé, Class of 2018

"NEXUS has been an awesome experience for me due to the fact that I was perfectly matched with my mentor. It is evident that the matching process was intentional because of how much I've been able to learn from and relate to my mentor. This has been true for my professional development, as well as my personal development. I don't believe that I would have 'stumbled' across a mentor this relevant to my development on my own, so I am greatly appreciative of NEXUS for the opportunity."
  • Joey Bland, NEXUS Mentor, Class of 2018

“Given family, running my own business, and having several volunteer focuses, I was not looking for opportunities of involvement. After being asked to be a NEXUS mentor I weighed the ramifications and felt like it was a worthwhile investment. Venturing into the NEXUS experience for the first time was not only an excellent investment of my time, but also highly beneficial personally. The progressive content of NEXUS was stimulating and challenged me to grow.
  • Kanesha Hines, NEXUS Protégé, Class of 2018

“The NEXUS program has helped me by exposing me to new leaders in the Memphis community, business world, and in my generation. The lessons that I've learned over the past nine months I'll carry with me for the rest of my life and I couldn't be more grateful for the opportunities that NEXUS has provided me.” Kanesha Hines, NEXUS Protégé, Class of 2018, Regulatory Affairs Specialist, Medtronic
  • Hunter Acosta, NEXUS Protégé, Class of 2018

"NEXUS has provided what Larry Jensen described as "Access and Impact" to business leaders and peers that I would not have connected with otherwise. Not only that, but it has allowed for true friendships to form and continue outside of the NEXUS monthly meetings." Hunter Acosta, NEXUS Protégé, Class of 2018, District Manager, ADP
  • Elizabeth Wilcox, NEXUS Protégé, Class of 2018

“In the time I was going through a job change and bank merger, I was simultaneously and luckily enrolled in the NEXUS program. My mentor has been with me every step of the way through that process. She lifted me up and has encouraged me as my career has taken a huge leap forward. I am lucky to have been introduced to her through the NEXUS program in this season of my life!” Elizabeth Wilcox, NEXUS Protégé, Class of 2018, Medical & Professional Banking Portfolio, Triumph Bank
  • Cooper Smith, NEXUS Protégé, Class of 2018

“NEXUS has opened my eyes as to how many different things are being done in the city of Memphis to make a positive change. It has changed my perspective on the city and given me the opportunity to get in front of the men and women who run the various organizations that are making a difference. During NEXUS, I was surrounded by individuals who had a desire to improve themselves both personally and professionally. I thoroughly enjoyed everything from my mentor to the service project.
  • Andre’ Wilkes, NEXUS Mentor, Class of 2018

“The NEXUS Program has elevated my level of thinking as it relates to leadership. This program not only helped me in my career but it has been a tremendous boost to my personal life. Each session brought on a new prospective of what a great leader should look like in our community. I am so thankful to have participated in NEXUS this year.” Andre’ Wilkes, NEXUS Mentor, Class of 2018, Associate Managing Director, Renasant Bank
  • Keith Okello, NEXUS Protégé, Class of 2018

“My NEXUS experience has been very fulfilling. Through NEXUS I have been able to connect and learn from leaders in the community who have participated in the speaker series. I have also been able to learn about many organizations that are doing great work in the Memphis area and I look forward to doing my part in making a difference. In my mentor, I have gained a friend who has been able to share so much wisdom around faith, family, fatherhood, leadership, and navigating my career.
  • Jeff Sample, NEXUS Mentor, Class of 2018

“Relational, participative, informative, engaging, inspiring! This summary of my NEXUS experience reflects NEXUS’ mission to duplicate and multiply an emerging generation of transformative leaders in the Memphis community. NEXUS has enlarged my vision of Memphis, broadened my network of friends and associates, and deepened my commitment to influence positively our community.
  • Lesley Patel, NEXUS Mentor, Class of 2018

“NEXUS is a unique leadership experience because it provides meaningful one-on-one interaction and development between protégé and mentor, and there is an opportunity to truly develop a lasting relationship that can carry past the year-long experience. The relationship I’ve built with my protégé is what has meant the most to me.” Lesley Patel, NEXUS Mentor, Class of 2018, Director, Marketing Operations, ALSAC/St. Jude
